Twistweald Quests

These quests are intended for Twistweald warbands and provide a mix of combat and narrative-driven goals across your campaign.

From Corpse to Curio

Sylvaneth artefacts are often grown from magical buds and blossoms in a celebration of flourishing, seasonally attuned life. No such niceties exist in the Gnarlwood. Gruesome, bloodstained artefacts are torn from the ground following morbid rituals performed upon gnarloak buds that spring from sundered corpses.

Pick 1 artefact of power from the Barkflesh Artefacts table (see below) and note it in your quest log. You cannot pick an artefact of power already borne by a fighter in your warband.

Fertiliser Score:
While embarked upon this quest, keep track of your warband’s fertiliser score.

  • Add 1 for each enemy fighter taken down in a campaign battle.
  • Add 1 additional point if the fighter taken down had a Wounds characteristic of 25 or more.

Completion:
You can complete this quest once your fertiliser score is 10 or more. When complete, you obtain the artefact you noted in your quest log.

Gnarlok HaftAdd 1 to Range of melee attack actions, to a max of 3.

Spiteful Charms

The Twistweald can enter into a symbiotic relationship with a number of helpful sprites.

Pick a Swarmspike fighter who can gain a heroic trait and one heroic trait from the Symbiotic Spites table (see below) and note it in your quest log. You cannot pick a heroic trait the fighter already has.

Progress Score:
Track this for the selected fighter. Increases based on chosen trait:

  1. Alarielle's Worshipper: +1 when enemy fighter is taken down by melee attack from this fighter.
  2. Ococlousse: +1 when enemy is taken down by Blast-tagged ability or attack.
  3. Necrocore Beetle: +2 each time 1+ damage points are removed and no damage remains allocated.
  4. Glitterling: +2 at the end of a battle round if more friendly fighters are on platforms than enemies.
  5. Scarlet Terror: +2 each time an enemy uses a disengage action.
  6. Scaldvenom Biter: +2 each time an enemy dies. +1 if 1+ enemies were taken down that turn before any damage was allocated to them.

Completion:
If the progress score is 8 or more, you may complete the quest in Step 4 of the aftermath sequence. The fighter gains the noted heroic trait.

A Twisted Chorus

The Twistweald’s goal is to end the threat Talaxis presents by manipulating the growth of gnarlroaks into a safe refuge. But to do so, they must raise and shape sprouts through gruesome rituals.

Seedling Score:
Track the number of gnarlroak sprouts collected:

  • +1 each time an enemy fighter is taken down within 3” of a gnarlroak terrain feature.

Completion:
When your seedling score is 5 or more, you can fight using the Sung in Blood battleplan. If you win the battle, you may complete this quest in Step 4 of the aftermath sequence. In Step 5, you may also relocate your encampment to Gnarlhaven (see below) for free.
